Jesus often acknowledged, rescued and built up damaged and broken people in his ministry. Some were outcasts and some had suffered trauma, often in hidden ways. If Jesus did this, then we should do it too in our own community.
The safeguarding of children, vulnerable adults, and each other is at the heart of a healthy church family. Effective training and safeguarding procedures will facilitate and enable a vibrant community - one which can provide room for creative and fun environments.
At Totnes United Free, safeguarding is considered to be everyone's responsibility, overseen by key individuals. We work hard to ensure that we are operating in line with current best practice, as recommended by the Baptist Union.
If you are concerned that someone you know is at risk of abuse, or is being abused, or presents a risk to others, please seek advice from a Church Safeguarding Officer. If necessary, report the matter to the Local Authority Social Care Services or the Police without delay.
